Tapio Wirkkala — 'Varsanjalka' Line Cut Vase, Model 3215, Iittala 1955

A highly collectable piece of Finnish art glass history — the iconic 'Varsanjalka' (Foal's Leg) vase, model 3215, designed by the legendary Tapio Wirkkala and produced by Iittala in 1955. Signed and dated by the artist.

The Varsanjalka series was in production from 1947 to 1959 and achieved international acclaim when it was presented at the Milan Triennale in 1951, where Wirkkala won three Grand Prix awards. The distinctive line-cut surface — evoking the texture of ice or birch bark — is one of the most recognisable and celebrated techniques in 20th-century Scandinavian glass design.

A signed, dated example from 1955 is a rare and significant find for any serious collector of Nordic design or studio glass.
